I am a licensed psychologist and clinical assistant professor at Loyola University Chicago. As a therapist my aim is to empower clients to create positive change. Change can come about internally through self-understanding, or externally through your approach to the world and relationships. Family, community, culture and social systems will always be considered in our work together.

Contact me for a free twenty minute phone consultation. I work primarily with adults, using an integrative therapeutic approach, and quite often incorporate mindfulness and meditation into psychotherapy.
Services
I believe that the relationship between the therapist and the counselor is the most important and foundational element to the therapeutic process and it is essential that the therapist be warm, caring and genuine.
I strive to develop an empathic and intuitive understanding of my clients, yet also create an environment where they can be challenged to grow as they create change in their life, develop new coping skills, and find new ways of being.
Although I have many years of training and experience, I see the client as the expert on their own life and see my role as one of support, guidance and information.
I provide individual psychotherapy with adults.
Typically, I will talk with a potential client over the phone for approximately 20 minutes to see if we might be a good fit.
Our first meeting is an Intake Assessment where I will ask you a variety of questions about what brings you to counseling, as well as questions about your background, your history and other areas of your life currently.
The Intake will be approximately 75 minutes and ends with a discussion of a plan for going forward.
Most clients will then begin meeting with me on a weekly basis for 50 minutes.
I will discuss them with you during this initial meeting and answer any questions that you might have.
In the first meeting, I'll initially spend some time discussing the forms with you, then ask you to briefly describe why you are interested in counseling and what you hope to get out of the experience.
After that I will ask you a wider variety of questions that may or may not pertain to your particular situation, but that are helpful for me to cover so that I get a broad understanding of not only your struggles, but of the positive areas of your life and the ways in which you are currently successful.
