Thank you for your interest in my psychotherapy and counseling practice. I have over 30 years of experience providing psychotherapy and support to people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, interpersonal and family conflicts, job related stress, parenting concerns and the impact of trauma, illness and life transitions on our daily lives. I also specialize in working with individuals and their loved ones dealing with the hardships presented by serious illness, end of life, and/or the death of a loved one.

Each experience is unique, complex, and personal. I use evidence-based treatment that includes insight-oriented therapy to explore your past and its possible effects on your current thoughts and feelings. I also use mindfulness based cognitive-behavioral therapy to help regulate and develop emotional control and cultivate more empathy and compassion.

I am also trained in positive psychology to help change behavior and develop more positive ways to thinking. Having provided mental health counseling in multiple medical settings and am specifically trained to collaborate with medical professionals to get the best medical care possible.
Services
I have been practicing psychotherapy in the Seattle area for over thirty years.
I have experience and enjoy working with people who are dealing with all kinds life stressors.
After getting my BA, I worked in an inpatient treatment program for young adults with schizophrenia.
Soon after moving to Seattle in 1978, a close family member was diagnosed with cancer and I became interested in the relationships between illness, mental health, and family dynamics.
This led to eight years as a volunteer with Cancer Lifeline and a decision to get my Master's Degree in counseling in 1987.
A fundamental part of the human experience is a fear of death - we dread the possibility of pain and suffering and worry about what we will face the end.
Medical care has a remarkable ability to extend life, but this care may not always be curative, and it is important to understand the potential physical and emotional tolls of intensive medical treatments that may extend survival but not enhance quality of life.
Both patients and their caretakers are often confused by overwhelming medical decisions and emotional reactions during diagnosis and treatment and struggle with what they may experience in the long haul, particularly when the future is unclear.
I also provide individual, couple, and family psychotherapy for those dealing with serious illness in your home.
I offer complimentary 20 minute introductory telephone consultations to give you an opportunity to ask questions and see if we are a good fit.
To schedule, please call me at (206) 920-5462 or email me at denisekrousecounseling @gmail.com.
Please note: I am able to bill insurance at my Mindful Therapy Group location, but home visits are not covered.
I offer home visits for those who live in the greater Seattle area.
Home visits are a convenient option if your health is currently challenged or the gathering of your family is difficult to arrange.
Your comfort is my major concern and bedside sessions are welcomed.
Please feel free to ask questions about possible concerns.
Driving milage reimbursement rates may apply.
