James L. Born has over 25 years of professional counseling experience ranging through an array of ages, and a myriad of mental health issues. Through his experience, he believes that all patients are entitled to exceptional care and respect. In addition to his vast resume in psychology, he has also had a successful career in higher education. Dr. Born has studied abroad in Jerusalem where he explored biblical land and historical relevancies.

Similarly, Dr. Born has certificates of study at Oxford University and a teaching certificate from Central Washington State College. Beyond his thriving professional career, Dr. Born, along with his wife Linda, have raised a beautiful family of 3 children, and now have many beautiful grandchildren. Leslee Forrester, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor, who has been providing professional counseling to the Sandy/Mt.

Hood community for the past 20 years. Her areas of specialization include depression, anxiety, grief and loss, codependency, attention deficit disorder, children of dysfunctional families, survivors of abuse, step-family issues, low self-esteem, stress management, spiritual issues, parent training, and family problems.

Hood Counseling Service was founded in 1980 by Murl Silvey, Psy.
D., clinical psychologist, to provide a guide and help in the Mt.
Hood community for a better way of life.
This mission has continued in tradition through four different locations in Sandy, Oregon and with the help of other counselors over time.
Dr. Silvey's wife, Bev Silvey, MA, National Certified Counselor, joined the counseling staff full time in 1990.
She has retired from the Mt.
Hood Counseling staff but continues to serve in the community.

Perform psychological assessment and evaluations for learning, sensory/developmental, mental health, disability, forensic, alcohol and substance abuse, cognitive/intellectual, memory, and personality issues.
Provide psychotherapy and counseling for emotional, behavioral, and trauma/abuse concerns for the individual (adult, adolescent, and child), couple, family, and group.
Train the person to integrate and practice the essential principles for personal freedom to change, grow, and develop as a person throughout life for a more fulfilling life.
