Services
Bergen Counseling Centers of Chicago provides counseling and psychological services to individuals living and working in downtown and on the northside of Chicago.
We strive to provide psychological services which promote individual growth and psychological health.
We understand that each client we work with is a unique individual influenced by his or her culture, family, values and beliefs, and personal identity.
We strive to honor and respect the uniqueness of each person we treat.
Psychological treatment first begins with clearly understanding and identifying the clients' goals and establishing a treatment plan based on those individualized goals.
I am Jeremy Bergen, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in downtown Chicago and the founder of Bergen Counseling Center.
I have experience in treating individuals, couples, adolescents, and families.
I specialize in depression, anxiety, self-esteem, work related issues, anger issues, relationship and family issues, abuse and trauma, men's issues, and substance abuse.
I combine an empathetic and individualized approach that emphasizes personal insight into one's thoughts, feelings and behavior with strength-based and goal-oriented models.
I obtained my Master of Counseling degree from Oregon State University and have experience supporting individuals, couples and family systems that have faced complex trauma, depression and anxiety, life transition concerns, grief and loss and divorce and relationship issues.
I also have training in crisis intervention, legal advocacy and collaborative problem solving with adolescents and children.
My clinical experience includes counseling clients from diverse backgrounds; including age, sex, sexual orientation, religion and culture.
Sometimes life doesn't go as planned, and through therapy, we can learn how to identify, accept, and cope with the challenges that come our way.
I work with clients to offer a safe, non-judgmental, validating space where one can be open and honest, build insight, and develop the skills needed to live one's best life.
By identifying and building upon a client's strengths, encouraging the utilization of natural supports, and by examining maladaptive beliefs and patterns that have been holding one back, I believe that I can help one develop the knowledge and skills needed to empower clients to take back control of their lives.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a focus on supporting people living with anxiety, depression, relationship stress, work-life balance concerns, challenging life transitions, grief and loss, substance use, medical illnesses and high functioning autism.
My approach to therapy is integrative with a complex trauma informed, strengths based lens.
I use evidenced based practices including psychodynamic therapy, experiential therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and emotion focused therapy; to help clients feel empowered and grounded.
