I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and registered Play Therapist providing individual, children/adolescents, and family therapy. At my practice, no matter what you are experiencing, it is important for me to create a safe, trusting, and compassionate space where you can feel comfortable being vulnerable to take the journey towards emotional healing and empowerment.

I truly believe in the resilience of the human spirit and that we all have the resources within us to grow and heal. There are times though where we may become "stuck" in life and overcome with fear or other factors. Asking for helping during these times can be scary, which is why I believe an empathetic approach comes first, where I can meet you exactly where you are at.

I don't believe in one cookie cutter approach and try to keep each session unique to your needs. I am passionate about building connections and providing therapeutic experiences through play, art, EMDR, attachment work, and other trauma protocols, supporting you to get to the root of your problems and regain your sense of control.
Services
I am a licensed therapist, specializing in work with children, teens, and their families.
I am additionally passionate in working with adults, specifically on early childhood trauma.
Most of my clinical experience stems from 10 years of experience working at a non-profit organization serving underserved populations and at-risk youth where I am committed to restoring lives shaken by stress, attachment injuries, and various traumatic events.
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an effective protocol that allows clients to become "unstuck" from past negative events and move forward to enhance life.
The heart of my clinical training is working with children and adolescents.
Childhood and adolescence can bring unique challenges to young people and their families and my goal is to help provide the safety, trust, and support needed to help them heal.
I utilize various creative interventions and trauma protocols to help children cope with daily stressors, past traumas, and various emotional and behavioral issues.
Play is a powerful way for children to discover the world and themselves and make sense of their experiences.
Trauma is defined as a deeply distressing or disturbing experience.
Traumatic experiences can range from a small single-incident to more long-term, repetitive, and complex ones.
As children, adults and families, we all face obstacles and experience traumatic events which shape our personalities and behaviors.
When your sense of safety and trust are shattered, it's normal to feel overwhelming emotions and symptoms, or even disconnected and numb.
At times, the symptoms of trauma, especially in childhood, may manifest in different ways later on in life, leading to maladaptive responses, such as depression, anxiety, feeling "stuck", excess stress, physical health/somatic symptoms, low sense of self-worth, difficulty creating healthy attachments, self-destructive behaviors, restlessness, substance use, and self-harm/suicidal ideation.
Provides emergency psychiatric evaluations, crisis intervention, crisis stabilization, brief outpatient counseling, case management and emergency medication management to children and adolescents under age 18.
Integrative Parenting: Strategies for Raising Children Affected by Attachment Trauma -Debra Wesselmann & Cathy Schweitzer.
The Connected Child: Bringing hope and healing to your adoptive family -Karyn B. Purvis, David R. Cross.
