Hello, and welcome to Creative Journeys Counseling, where I support adult and kiddo clients with EMDR, Sandplay, Play Therapy, and more. Now offering in-person sessions for people who are fully vaccinated! Are you, or is your child struggling with PTSD, C-PTSD, anxiety, self-criticism, sadness, compassion fatigue, or painful memories and triggers that just won't go away?

Or maybe you are feeling disconnected from who and where you'd most like to be in your life. Complications arising from divorce, trauma, unhealthy life and relationship patterns, adoption, and concerns with coming out as LGBTQIA+ and transitioning are just some of the reasons people seek out a mental health therapist. Difficulties from childhood, unhealthy past relationships, past life stressors and loss can continue to impact your emotional well-being in the present moment.

These past events can continue to influence the way you think and feel, the way you interact with others, and your ability to be successful in your life.
Services
In addition to being a licensed psychotherapist (LCSW), I am a registered play therapist and a certified sandplay therapist.
I am trained in DBT and attachment-based approaches, and am also certified in EMDR therapy, Clinical Hypnotherapy and Past Life Soul Regression Therapy.
I am also trained in mindfulness, guided meditation and visualization techniques, and am a Reiki Master as well, so you can be assured my office is at all times energetically cleared and protected.
I graduated with a BA in cultural anthropology from UMass Amherst, and after working as a case manager with clients struggling with severe mental health challenges, I realized how much I love to be a part of others' healing processes, so in 2004 I earned a MA in social work from New Mexico Highlands University.
Together, we can identify challenges you are currently experiencing, explore ways in which they might be linked to painful experiences in the past, and support you as you change your life in the ways most meaningful to you.
My goal as your therapist is to focus on supporting you and the way that you individually experience your life.
Using techniques from EMDR Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Guided Visualization, Sandtray Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Parts Work, Solution-Focused Therapy and Hypnotherapy, I will help you to learn to utilize coping skills which will allow your social and emotional worlds to become more balanced, joyful and confident.
Do you feel like you are at your wit's end, trying to help your kids manage their behavior and BIG feelings?
Do they seem to worry a lot, cry or seem 'shut down'?
Or maybe they are being extra defiant--more than other kids their age.
Or perhaps something scary or painful happened to them, and they are having a hard time getting past it.
Many experiences can effect a child's mood and behavior, including a new sibling, medical trauma, a history of abuse or neglect, conflict over gender identity or being LGBTQ, symptoms of ADHD, PTSD, issues of adoption, acculturation, or problems associated with a recent separation or divorce.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is considered one of the most effective treatments for trauma, and is both evidence and research-based.
It is often the treatment of choice for clearing the emotional charge of painful experiences and memories, and has been used successfully to treat depression, anxiety, fears and phobias as well.
When something painful or traumatic happens, our brains can have difficulty processing or 'digesting' the experience, and so the painful memory can become stuck in our memory networks--along with the sensory information from when the experience happened.
Sometimes adults and children are a little nervous about what will happen in the first session.
This is completely normal!
There is plenty of free parking, both in front of the building and in the garage, and there are entrances to the building from both places.
For divorced parents, please also remember to bring in your custody agreement for your kiddo's chart.
It will also be helpful if you bring in your insurance card for me to copy, and please already know information about your insurance, such as: your copay/co-insurance, your deductable, and whether you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Health Reimbursement Account (HRA).
