I hope this website can help you get a good idea of how I work and how a psychoanalytically oriented approach to psychotherapy can help you. I provide psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy to Adults and Adolescents to help people overcome the recurrent and resistant problems and patterns in work, love, and play. In addition to psychoanalytic techniques, I use other strategies such as support, education, coaching, cognitive behavioral, and mindfulness when I feel they are helpful.
I also provide education and consultation to other mental health professionals and trainees in a variety of settings. Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy provide a safe and contained context for a deep and lasting transformation of a person's feelings, thoughts and experience in relationships to others and to her/himself.

When you call we can talk briefly about your struggles and then we can make an appointment.
In the initial appointment we will talk in detail about what troubles you and what your goals are for yourself and your treatment.
Then we will talk about my impressions and recommendations.
I work with individuals and couples, adults and adolescents.
The kind of treatment I offer requires a very close attention to the person on many levels.

For me Psychoanalysis has three aspects to it.
First I think of it as a way of thinking about and being with different individual, interpersonal, social and political situations.
It has an appreciation for the complexity of lives and the suffering we all experience as human beings.
It is a way of listening to, witnessing and understanding a person or a group of people.
Psychoanalytic thinking since its beginnings in the late 1800's has been informed by the biological sciences, art, literature, philosophy, history and the social sciences and has used these disciplines to further understand the human condition.
