We offer the three waves of CBT including cognitive work, behaviorism, and acceptance based techniques for managing our suffering. Mental health professionals are often at a higher risk of experiencing symptoms of distress, more specifically, symptoms of burnout. Symptoms of burnout can include feelings of emotional depl. The Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) consists of psychologically trained mental health clinicians including psychologists and counselors.

We provide strength-based counseling primarily from cognitive and behavioral therapies.

The Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) consists of psychologically trained mental health clinicians including psychologists and counselors.
We provide strength-based counseling primarily from cognitive and behavioral therapies.
The CWC is committed to healthy coping, self-awareness, self-identity, education, and peaceful living.
We treat a range of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, addictions, adjustment, personality disorders and LGBT issues.
If we cannot help you directly, we can refer you to a professional who can.
Every clinician of the CWC has been trained in evidence-based treatments (e.g., cognitive and behavioral therapies such as ACT, DBT, REBT, and others) as well as multicultural psychology.
We embrace active discussions of diversity issues and develop a treatment plan specific to each individual client.
This is important when considering the best treatment for you, or your loved one.
The following are the services offered at the CWC.
As a practice that provides cognitive and behavioural therapy (CBT), and Dr. Pete's past experience at the international level as an elite swimmer, the CWC offers specialized services in sports psychology.
Many of the mental health clinicians of CWC come from a variety of clinical backgrounds and training.
While many of us are considered early in our careers, we have trained for several years refining our clinical skills and we remain in active supervision to ensure quality of care.
Clinicians meet regularly to discuss client cases (i.e., the medical model), process challenges faced by some clients, and learn new intervention skills.
Below you will find some of the more popular theoretical orientations for mental health.
Watching your dog play with another dog, maybe they get in a small fight, and then they get right back to playing together, letting go of that past moment.
Making mashed potatoes and noticing the texture of the potato, the smell, the boiling water.
Take a moment and identify 5 things that you can see, 5 things that you hear, 5 things that you feel.
Just as much as I cannot hurt someone I love (or hate) by thinking that I want to or I am going to.
Sometimes we do not want to be present in situations such as running into an ex-lover, waiting on a long line in a store, being trapped in an elevator, speaking to a large audience.
The Counseling and Wellness Center has provided telemedicine using various platforms since 2014.
All of our medical records and clinical interface is built into our electronic health record system, which is currently Simple Practice.
Clients can access their account information and attend a virtual session through this platform.
