As a counselor and therapist, I have embarked on many journeys, and I am now ready to start one with you. My commitment is to meet you where you are and to travel with you as you discover the many paths that lie ahead. Together we will choose which ones to follow and which ones will lead you to achieving your life goals. Today you are one step closer to a new you, where you feel empowered, balanced, and are on a positive path to growth and well-being.
At some point in our lives, we're ready to make changes. Through the journey of self-exploration, we see ourselves more clearly. We can lead fuller, richer, and more balanced lives. My focus is on helping you improve how you understand and navigate life's relationships, stressors and challenges. Through the healing process of psychotherapy, you can find balance and your most authentic self.
I form a therapeutic relationship with my clients to help them deal with the issues they present. I draw upon my years of experience and training to create an effective treatment plan with you.

I completed my Bachelors of Arts in International Relations at UC Davis in 1993 and I completed my Masters of Education in Community Counseling at California State University, Sacramento in 1999.
As a graduate of UC Davis and CSU Sacramento, I am excited to be back in the Sacramento area, where I can apply the experience I have learned during my travels and to serve the community that helped provide for my initial education and experience in the Behavioral Health Field.
I have been a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor since 2010.

Lance has been a persistent force of positive energy in my time working with him.
His experience and understanding are present immediately.
Lance provided me with personalized tools and resources aimed at moving me forward in my journey toward positivity.
He listens, he considers, and he responds promptly.
Importantly, for me, he is diligent in gently eliciting my participation in our counseling conversations.
If you could benefit from a more mindful outlook, Lance is a great help.
Lance is great!

I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues providing services that span from therapy for depression and grief counseling to support with finding belonging within the LGBTQIA+ community, moving forward with School/College or Career and beyond.
In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of my clients individual needs to help attain the personal growth they're striving for.
Psycho-dynamic theories of counseling, which recognize the role of your early life experiences and the (often unconscious) impact they continue to have on your life as an adult;.

What is LGBTQIA+ Affirmative Therapy?
It is an approach to therapy that embraces a positive view of Lesbian, Gay or Gender Fluid, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Intersex, Asexual or Aromantic experiences, identities and relationships.
LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapy addresses the impact homophobia, bi-phobia, transphobia, and heterosexism have on the lives of LGBTQIA+ clients.
In addition to exploring how negative messages and experiences impact one's sense of self and identity, LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapy provides a safe space to process one's own internalization of these negative messages.

I work closely with both the person who has used/abused drugs and alcohol, and the people whom are impacted by their loved one's use.
One size doesn't fit all.
Are you looking to abstain from all drugs and alcohol?
Are you looking to cut back your current use of alcohol, to eliminate the problems it's creating in your life?
Or perhaps you've been sober for some time now and you are finding that you need additional support and guidance with issues that are beyond the scope of 12 step, smart recovery, or harm reduction.
