I'm a marriage and family therapist practicing in Manhattan Beach, CA.
A little about my background.
I started my career in telecom and information technology, both in corporate settings and in the crazy start-up world.
My lifelong interest in psychology really took off when my kids were young.
Fascinated by the development of their little brains and minds, I began reading endlessly on the subject and in 2006 took a leap from corporate life and entered a master's program in clinical psychology at Antioch University Los Angeles.

We live in a beautiful community and lead fast-paced lives.
All this activity can create high levels of stress and anxiety, impairing our functioning, our health and our happiness.
We may have unprocessed trauma in our pasts holding us back from reaching our goals or we may be in a current crisis.
Reaching out for help is an important and courageous step forward.

Teen Counseling provides a safe space for your teenager to explore feelings and behaviors, to identify new ways to understand and solve problems, develop healthy coping mechanisms and feel less stuck in daily life.
Developing a strong therapeutic relationship with the right professional is key.
When teens feel that a therapist listens to them in a non-judgmental manner, defenses loosen, they feel understood and valued, and it becomes possible for them to speak more openly.
At this point, a teen and therapist can work together to pinpoint the dynamics that are holding him or her back academically, emotionally or socially.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence based therapy widely used in the treatment of trauma and PTSD.
Extensive research is currently being conducted showing positive results in treating depression, anxiety, OCD, panic disorder, addiction and many other disorders.
I use EMDR therapy with a wide variety of my clients and the results are real and exciting.
These are often times people who have tried unsuccessfully for years to manage their symptoms.
With EMDR therapy they are able to find peace and move forward in their lives, often for the first time.

In my work with Couples I follow Dr. Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT).
Sue is well known for her book HOLD ME TIGHT, which is a great introduction to EFT and a workbook that couples can use at home in conjunction with counseling sessions.
There was once a time when I was a bit skeptical about couples counseling - and then some years ago I followed Sue Johnson for a full day at a couples conference.
I was truly astounded by what I was hearing and seeing play out among the couples Sue was working with.
